About
A C++-focused developer blog, run by 0xmote
pkglog is a technical blog written and maintained by 0xmote, working alone. The main focus is C++ systems and network programming, with additional posts on web development, databases, and DevOps. The goal isn't traffic — it's keeping notes that are actually useful to look back on later.
The site has been running since early 2026, and publishing has not been perfectly consistent — there have been stretches with no new posts when other work got in the way. Rather than promising a fixed schedule, the priority is keeping what's already published accurate.
What's covered
The largest and most detailed series is C++ — compiler fundamentals, the memory model, smart pointers, lock-free data structures, network programming (sockets, io_uring, epoll), and Windows API/MFC. Beyond that, there are posts on other languages (Python, Go, Rust, TypeScript), databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, and others), and infrastructure tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
Not every post is written to the same depth. Some are short, code-first references;
others go deep into background and reasoning. Posts that don't meet the bar for search
visibility are marked noindex — they stay on the site but are excluded from
search results.
How this is written
AI tools (Claude Code) are used to help draft and edit text. Code examples are run and checked directly rather than taken on faith, and mistakes get fixed when found. Nothing here is claimed to be perfect — if you spot an error, the contact info below reaches a real person who will look into it.
Every post shows its original publish date and last-updated date. Old posts aren't left
untouched by default — when something turns out to be wrong or outdated, it either gets
corrected or marked noindex.
